The Carpe Diem/Girasole Ride was developed with the dual intention of creating the premier Northern NJ cycling event and becoming a primary benefactor to the The Paul R. Nardoni Foundation. The PRN Foundation,in Flemington, New Jersey provides comfort and support for cancer patients and also to their families and other caregivers. Established in memory of Paul R. Nardoni, who died in 2001 of Hodgkin’s, the Foundation honors Paul’s irrepressible love of life. The Foundation takes its charter from Paul’s concern for the comfort of family and friends who attended his needs during long hospital stays. Foundation dollars have helped facilities such as the Somerset Medical Center and the Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center fund “discretionary” amenities that give both patients and caregivers welcome respite. The needs that the Foundation hopes to fill are many.
